2016 - GOING FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH!
In order to continue the great response of the first Fly Pink Hong Kong campaign, a charity lunch kicked off the first fundraising event for 2016. Guest were encouraged to dress up in Pink and wine, raffle prizes and free gifts were generously donated to the Fly Pink event for guests to enjoy.
The retirement of the last B747 passenger conversion aircraft for Cathay Pacific Airways were scheduled for October 2016. Mr Mark Sutch, GM CX Cargo at the time, made the beautiful suggestion to use this historic occasion as an opportunity to raise funds for Fly Pink. This epic farewell flight around Hong Kong, and in particular Victoria Harbour was the perfect send-off for the Queen of the Skies. The company generously donated the operational costs of this flight and tickets were made available and sold to staff members. The flight was commanded by Captains Mark Hoey, Gus Larrard and Martin Cullinane.
Our cabin crew is Fly Pink’s biggest supporters and a group from CX Inflight Service Department took part in the HKBCF annual Victoria Peak fun walk, proudly displaying our Fly Pink merchandise.
Captains Hank Cheng and Alan Cheung also proudly supported FlyPink whilst completing their historic flight around the world. They were flying B-KOO “Inspiration”, Hong Kong’s first homebuilt aircraft, to promote aviation and the spirit of Hong Kong. The Cathay Benefits Centre also assisted the Fly Pink team in donating Cathay Pacific merchandise which was for sale and all proceeds going towards the Fly Pink initiative.
